Meet the team at SPS (Pennine Road)
Lindsey Farrow (BSc (Hons), PGCE Early Years (3 - 8))
Lindsey has worked with young children for 19 years and has worked in maintained schools across the whole of Key Stage One and the Early Years foundation stage. Following her passion for Early Years, Lindsey became manager of Simmondley Pre School where she has been for 9 years. During this time she has been invited to support the delivery of a Mud Kitchen workshop at an Every Child a Mover DCC conference. She has published an article in Elizabeth Jaman’s Communication Friendly Spaces journal. Lindsey has also presented at a DCC conference for Headteachers with regards to the implementation of 30 hours, and the impact on children, setting and planning.
Nicola Kay (BA (Hons), EYTS)
Nic came to Simmondley Pre School as a parent as part of the management committee. She then formed Natural Explorers with Lindsey and joined the staff team a year later. Nic has worked at Natural Explorers for 5 years and during that time has successfully completed her Early Years Teacher status, with a grade of outstanding. Nic has presented at a DCC conference for Headteachers with regards to the implementation of 30 hours and the impact on children, setting and planning.
Rosie Barber (BA (Hons) Child Development and Early Years)
Rosie came to Simmondley Pre School as a student on placement while studying for her Level 3 Childcare, learning and development. Rosie then returned when she was in her final year at Sheffield Hallam University doing her dissertation research project based on how outdoor play opportunities impact children’s experiences of play, and help their learning and development. Rosie graduated from University with a BA (Hons) in Childhood studies. She began working at Natural Explorers and has been a part of the team for 2 years and has is now the room lead at the Nursery School.
Joanne Stockton (Early Years Educator, Level 3)
Jo has worked in childcare for 8 years in a range of early years settings including a special educational needs school. Jo is passionate about working in early years and has been part of the natural explorers team for a year. Jo has completed her level 3 in children’s learning and development in July 2017 and is now a qualified early years educator.
Bethany James (Early Years Educator Apprenticeship)
Amelia has completed a level 3 in Early Years Education and is currently studying an Early Years degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is now in her second year and wants to become an Early Years Teacher when she graduates. She has worked in a range of ages covering from 0-7. However Pre School age is her favourite age to work with so when the opportunity become available to join the team in January 2018, she was thrilled.
Hannah Rowarth (Mid Day Supervisor, Level 2 Teaching Assistant. Food Hygiene)
Hannah worked as a volunteer at a Local primary school , supporting in both infant and junior classes. Hannah studied teaching assistant level 2 and gained the qualification. Hannah went onto to working in a specialist school for children with challenging behaviour working across all classes with children various different needs and challenges. Holds certificate in Food Hygiene.
